2 { Superior Sun www.copperarea.com Dec. 13, 2o17 Illinois. She Amparo "Ampy" R. Fontes, 92, passed away on Thursday, Dec. 7, 2o17 in Superior, Arizona. She was born in Sonora, Arizona to Manuel and Felicitas Fontes. Her family moved to Superior in 1959. She served our nation and began her nursing career in the US NAVY in Great Lakes, served her community at the Miami Inspiration Hospital for 12 years. She was a member of the St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church. She loved to cook and watch her Spanish programming. Ampy carefully watched the news and supported the Phoenix Suns and the Arizona Cardinals. Ampy was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Manuel and Felicitas Fontes, and her brothers, Manuel R, Rodolfo R. and Salvador R. Fontes. Amparo was loved and will be missed by her son, Rudy Shifflett; her grandchild, Robert ShiftieR; and two great-grandchildren, RJ and Nevaeh Shifflett. Services will be on Friday, Dec. 15, 2o17, at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Superior, Arizona. Visitation is at 9 a.m., Rosary at 9:30 a.m. and Mass will be celebrated at lO a.m. The interment will follow at the Fairview Cemetery in Superior, Az. Thompson, 33, Superior, was arrested in the 4oo block of Moffatt St. and was charged with aggravated assault, strangulation, resisting arrest and disorderly conduct. He was transported and booked into the Pinal County Jail. Megan R. Cruz, 33, Superior, was arrested in the area of Church Ave. and Gibbs St. and was charged with failure to remain on scene of an accident. She was cited and released. James T. Bentley, 52, Superior, was arrested in the 6oo block of Hill St. and was charged with disorderly conduct involving a dangerous weapon and threatening. He was transported and booked into the Pinal County Jail. Dec. 4 Burglary was reported in the 400 block of Main St. Monique C. Madrid, 31, Superior, was arrested in the area of Golf Course Rd. and Telegraphy Canyon Rd. on two failure to appear warrants issued out of the Pinal County Sheriffs Office. She posted bond and was released.
