Arizona Water Company is also requesting to implement a Distribution System Improvement Charge (DSIC). Joseph Harris Vice President and Treasurer explained that the charge is necessary to cover the costs of the Arizona Water Company to construct a surface water treatment system. The surface water treatment system is needed to treat ground water before it is introduced in the water system. This plant will be constructed in the Eastern Group water system and will be used to treat the allocation of Central Arizona Project water that the company has acquired through a purchase.
